Diamond cut alloy wheels are not as resistant to damage as a painted wheel. Once the lacquer is damaged water and salt will get into your wheels and damage the diamond cut surface. You’ll see white powder on parts of the wheel. Diamond cut alloy wheels just aren’t suitable for high mileage cars or cars used a lot in the UK. Even the smallest stone chip or scratch will start to damage your finish.
How good will the finish be?
That depends on the damage, the quality and the age of your diamond cut alloy wheel. If your wheel is old or badly damaged you might find, even when they have been repaired, that there small pits in the alloy wheel. Also high quality alloy wheels will give a far better finish. AlloyPro will advise you the type of finish to expct.
It depends on the quality of your alloy wheel and how deep the damage goes. This is because the cutting removes a thin layer of metal every time you have your diamond cut alloy wheels repaired. Eventually further cutting will leave your wheel weakened. AlloyPro will let you know if we don’t think it can be done safely
No, some are just too complicated to lathe, It depends on the profile of the wheel, although most can have the rim diamond cut. Again we’ll tell you if it can’t.
We say approximately 4 working days to repair diamond cut alloys, although it can be longer.
